c1901 Vulcanite Vesta produced in Germany to commemorate Edward V11, Vulcanite (Ebonite) is a semi-synthetic material prepared from natural rubber hardened by the addition of sulfur and heat. This book shaped Vesta has on one side the profile of Edward V11 in an oval frame and the reverse has the Latin inscription "E HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENS" which is the moto of the Order of the Garter. Measuring 50mm x 35mm x 13mmis in very good condition with only a small chip to one lower edge which does not detract from the overall appearance.
